Worth of the Individual
The fundamental purpose, and importance of democracy is for the individual. No matter what walk of life a person comes from, each opinion and voice is unique. Democracy gives each individual that is apart of its cause dignity, and worth. However, in a Democracy, a group of people who made the majority of a choice subordinate, or don't take into account the choice of a few others interests because most of the population favor a decision. This causes those few people to be forced to do something, whether they want to or not, but the majority of the population agrees with it. For example, democracy forces people to obey laws, pay taxes, and follow traffic regulations in society, because it serves the interests of the majority of people. As individuals, many of these people make up the laws and decisions in that society.
